The Latest News and Views from Ascent Wealth ManagementDear Katrina, Welcome to another News and Views, in the middle of what is proving to be an eventful month for investors. While we have seen a trend of good news and positive growth in Eurozone and the US, and Greece has been successful in gaining further bailout funds, China remains volatile and the oil price seems to keep falling. This has seen increased volatility in the markets this month. The long game is one where returns will return to the mean after a few years of outstanding results; we just need to get through this current volatility and keep the future at the front of our thinking. This month, we present the market update from 360 Research to elaborate on the above points. Strategically, we take a simplified look at Aged Care. The care landscape has changed markedly in recent years; this article seeks to reduce the complexity. This is an area of work that I have become increasingly involved with over the past few years; while it is rewarding, it disappoints me that a system designed to provide care can cause so much concern and trepidation, at what is already a very emotionally fraught time. We're ready to be of help if any of our readers just need a quick phone call, or if there is a more detailed discussion required. Next, another issue that is close to my heart at the moment. Inheritances. These can really be the silver lining on what are really dark clouds. Used wisely, inheritances can make a big difference to the recipients; they also can have Centrelink and Department of Veteran Affairs implications as well; so careful, considered advice is a "must". Lastly, if you've ever wanted to "give something back", I have a look at some really rewarding things that you can do as a volunteer. Whether it is helping at the local Primary School's support- a -reader lessons, or stepping forward to organise and arrange donations for charitable causes, not only will your efforts make a meaningful difference, they will also result in many positives in the life of the volunteer. I am in awe of the good works of many of the people who will be reading this newsletter. I can only but try to emulate your efforts throughout my own life! The people of Samford Valley are again getting ready for their upcoming Garden Expo which is on over the weekend of the 12th and 13th of September at the Samford Showground at Highvale. Tickets are $10 each and funds raised will support the Chaplaincy programmes for the Samford and Mt Samson Schools. This is a terrific event and I'm looking forward to attending again. If you're looking for some gardening tips from the experts that will be speaking as we move into Spring, then this is the event for you. Please have a look at the website for further details- http://www.samfordgardenexpo.org.au/ Until next month, all the best. Please feel free to pass this newsletter or articles on to others that might benefit.
Regards
Steve
