Welcome to the Latest News and Views, we hope you are all doing well leading up to the festive season.
Economic Update
Good news all around with the latest market update painting a good picture of domestic and international performance. The market performance has seen synchronised global economic growth and strong corporate earnings continue in November.
The consistent decline in unemployment rates with strong returns in the energy, materials and industrial sectors helped to provide double digit returns for the Australian market over the past 12 months. Similar to the Global markets which have had a strong rally over the past 12 months despite tensions with US and North Korea continuing. The US economy has seen new cyclical lows for their unemployment and underemployment rates. It will be interesting to see if these will continue to decrease in 2018 with the US almost reaching levels of full employment.
The market overall has been performing well and we hope it continues into 2018.
Second Chance
A lot of us look back on our past decisions and think it would have been so much better to have changed a few things when we were younger. In hindsight it would have been nice to encourage my younger self to invest more instead of spending it all. The good news is most of you are on the right track having sought financial advice to make the most of your financial decisions and retirement planning.
Behavioural Finance
One of my favourite topics, behavioural finance or simply explained as how people make financial decisions and the actions they take due to their cognitive and emotional biases. I encourage you all to read this article if you are interested in how your mind might be changing your financial decisions.
Something a bit fun!
If you have some flair in the kitchen try whipping up this BBQ lamb and Greek salad, it could make for a nice addition to the traditional ham and turkeys on Christmas day.
