Market update

January brings the continuation of domestic and global growth from 2017. In Australia we saw a rise in wages and employment, although there is some doubt on when the RBA will start to raise the interest rates which are currently sitting at 1.50%. Globally, China surprised forecasts by exceeding 2017 growth expectations to just under 7% in the first three quarters of 2017. The US is continuing to impress with unemployment at 8% which is the lowest since 2006 (noting that 5% is considered full employment), but with the fed wanting to start raising interest rates, will the solid growth continue?

Having your financial goals met is good but being healthy enough to enjoy the fruits of your labour is the icing on the cake.
